Google Tasks supports scheduled task notifications, but its current notification settings do not provide a per-task email reminder that arrives in your inbox when an individual task is due. If you want that, TaskAlarm adds a scheduled email reminder to your existing Google Tasks.
Google Tasks does not currently offer a setting for a scheduled, per-task email reminder when an individual task becomes due. Google's Tasks notification settings focus on notifications delivered through Google Tasks, Google Calendar, or other supported Google apps depending on your device.
That distinction matters. Google Tasks can absolutely notify you about a scheduled task, but a normal task notification is different from receiving a reminder message in your email inbox.
If you give a task a date and time, Google says you can receive a notification at that scheduled date and time. Tasks with a date but no specific time can notify at 9 AM.
On Android, task notifications can come from the Google app, Google Tasks, or Google Calendar. On iPhone and iPad, Tasks or Calendar can deliver the notification. On a computer, task notifications are handled through Google Calendar.

There are situations where Google can send an email related to a task. For example, assigning a task to someone from supported Google Workspace features can generate an assignment email.
That is different from a due-time email reminder. An assignment email tells someone that a task was assigned or changed; it is not an inbox reminder scheduled for the moment an ordinary Google Task is due.
TaskAlarm adds the email-reminder layer. It works with your existing Google Tasks from the Gmail sidebar. Select a task, choose a reminder time, and TaskAlarm sends the reminder to your inbox.
You do not have to replace Google Tasks or turn off its native notifications. TaskAlarm simply gives selected tasks another way to reach you.
